The French nun and mystic Mother Agnes, sister of St. Therese of Lisieux, had a lot of encounters with her own personal Guardian angel during the 19th century. An observer noted that "she made her angel do as she wished. She saw him, spoke familiarly with him, I remember when I left her to go by dangerous roads at night, she gave him to me to help me get past the danger, when he had done so, he said goodbye to me and went back to the good soul he guarded."
